CREATING A CHARITABLE FUND TO BENEFIT A CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION

Organization funds are often created by an organization’s board or loyal supporters to provide an ongoing stream of revenue or a means of support when an economic downturn has reduced annual donations or eliminated a funding source.  They can be endowed (permanent funds, where all gifts are preserved) or non-endowed (all gifts may be spent).

Not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) organizations that  feel they have more than a ‘rainy day reserve’ may be ready to consider an organization fund.  Many organizations transfer a sum to establish the fund.  Your donors may be willing to make additional gifts or name the organization to receive a bequest in their will.
