You have done something wonderful!  You have made life better, helped someone who needed a hand, encouraged a student to go to college, or ensured that an important program continued.  Thank you for entrusting us with your gift to the community.  

Charitable funds may receive additional gifts from anyone, at any time and in any amount.  You may decide you want the charitable fund you established to provide more grants and may choose to add gifts during your lifetime or through your estate. 

Invite your friends and family to make a gift to the charitable fund in lieu of personal gifts to honor an anniversary, birthday, or other special event in your life.  Checks should be made payable to ‘Community Foundation of Shelby County’ with the name of the charitable fund added to the memo line.  We will inform you of any gifts made to the fund and provide you with names and addresses of donors. All gifts are tax-deductible and each donor will receive a charitable gift acknowledgment for their tax purposes.

Legacy Society
If you’ve included the Community Foundation of Shelby County in your estate plan by naming us in your will or making us the beneficiary of an IRA or life insurance policy, please let us know.  We invite you to submit a Legacy Society letter which does not commit you to the gift or disclose details of the gift, but provides us with basic information.  Several individuals and couples have joined the Legacy Society and plan to make a gift to add to or create a charitable fund at the Community Foundation.
